I just noticed Keira Knightly is nominated for an Oscar for Pride and Prejudice. *Gag* Are they serious? That really disgusts me. Looks like I will be yelling at my tv on Oscar night this year after all. I haven't actually seen most of the films that were nominated so I am going to have to get on that right quick. I thought maybe this year I would avoid seeing them and thus avoid my annual academy anger, but clearly I will be pissed off either way so what's the point.

Meanwhile, I read Fight Club recently and then watched the movie again. I hadn't seen the movie in a long time and I had forgotten how great it is. I suppose it is easier to accurately depict a book when the book is only 200 pages, but they really did a great job. In fact they improved upon the book, because the movie's ending is significantly better than the book's. And even covered in blood and bruises Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are hot. And as always Helena Bonham Carter is fabulous.

My Name is Earl was on last night. This show just excites me to no end. They had Giovanni Ribisi on again. He plays idiotic losers better than anyone. Last week they had Jon Favreau, whom I still love out of Swingers nostalgia even though he has gotten inordinately fat* and hasn't done anything very interesting since then. Well Elf was significantly more entertaining than I thought it would be. What really surprises me about Earl though is how fantastic Jaime Pressly is on that show. She is amazing as his trailer trash ex-wife.

*I don't feel bad about saying this. The media always makes the biggest fucking deal about it when an actress gains like 5 lbs, but actors have to turn into Jabba the Hut before anyone says a word about it. Although he was pretty fat in PCU (gutter!), then he looked pretty good for Swingers, but I suppose he was never particularly thin.
